Jake Arrieta is the highest paid BP pitcher in baseball.
I'm just here for the baseball.

Anti-vaxxer Arrieta also asked a reporter to take his mask off at the post-game press conference.

It's pretty easy to rebuild a team over the winter. I expect the Cubs to bring in several FAs to fill the positions vacated by trade. It's rare for a team to have so many marquis UFAs, and I don't think it's good management to try to avoid this 2-5 years out - you assemble the team in the best position to win in the short term.

Speaking of the Cubs, is Nick Madrigal in their plans for 2022? A good OBP/SB MI has value in NL-only, but I'm tempted to move him at our league's trade deadline.

They plan on him starting and leading off as of now.

They're very similar players, aren't they? Perhaps the Cubs intend to flip one of them.

Hoerner can play 2nd, short, and center field.

Thinking Madrigal will be the 2nd baseman. Where Hoerner plays will depend on who the Cubs spend money on in the off season. Some good SS will be out there. But both Hoerner and Madrigal are certainly in the rebuild plans.

For some reason, Story to the Cubs seems to make sense to me. I don't know why, seeing as how he'd be very expensive to a rebuilding team...but it just "feels" right to me.

                              I would love that.

The rumor or maybe just wish list writing is that Castellanos opt out of his contract and sign with the Cubs. He is the one that got away.

If they sign him I wouldn't be so sad at them anymore.

“We’re certainly going to be active, but we need to be active in a way that we feel like we’re getting the right value for the dollars we’re spending,” Hoyer said. “And we’re also making sure that we’re not hindering ourselves going forward with expenditures for right now.” -Jed Hoyer yesterday.

So I guess we are not getting any of the top pitching free agents this coming year.
