Today's poker night, so no betting today. The O's got crushed yesterday -- note to self, don't ever bet on the O's again!

          Last night I took:

          Orioles + 105 - Lost $15
          A's ML vs. Angels at -105 - Bet $26.25, won $25
Dodgers ML vs. Rockies at -230 - Bet $40, won $17.39

          Net - $27.39

Tonight, looking at Indians ML (-164) vs. Tigers, Twins ML (-160) @ Royals and Cubs ML (-175) vs. White Sox. Probably won't bet on all 3. Leaning towards the Indians but waiting for lineups to come out.

I live in a state that does not allow betting on these sites, but i wanted to know how the lines on fan duel and dk compare to vegas lines? Do they offer parlays and prop bets as well?

They offer any bet you can imagine. You can even bet on the outcome of every pitch! I bet props every time (betting on HRs) and have open futures bets on won/loss and the WS winner. I would guess the lines are similar to LV. Occasionally I'll see they differ between each other a bit, but it's not much of a difference.

a lot of casino operators use the same software so they offer the same lines

meanwhile, I did a maneuver the other night that I think all fans would be tempted to go with:

3 different Mets relievers allow runs to score - on WP and bases-loadeds HBP and then BB - to tie the game, 3-3

Mets take a 5-3 lead, top 9, but I'm convinced EDiaz will choke again

so I bet $2 on the Marlins, who at that moment ballooned to 11 to 1 odds.

                Mets win, great
                Mets lose, I win $22

kind of takes the edge off

also interesting is "Cash Out" - say you bet the Mets before that game for 20 bucks. at 5-3 in the 9th, the "book" will likely offer you $30 or even $35 to just walk away with a profit. again, sphincter-tighten averted.

and if the Mets fall behind early, 3-0, maybe they offer you like 5 bucks to surrender. their algorithms beat bettor emotions in the long run, but a fun feature.

Only made it to the window with the Indians ($42.25 to win $25) so that worked out well. Will be out of pocket today so won't get any bets in. At first glance, without much in-depth review, I would've leaned towards Brewers ML (-153) @ Pit but don't think I'll get any bets in.

Good call on the live betting. A fun feature that can certainly help at the right time and makes things interesting.

                      Notes
Time to get off the schneid. I like the Rays to batter Thornton, but they're also starting Josh Fleming, a 1st time starter. Maybe it's a bullpen game?

Weaver dominates the Giants, but SF has also been red hot, winning 5 straight.

Senzatela doesn't fare well vs LA, but Stripling also hasn't pitched well of late. LAD is also a -235 fave, which means you'd have to bet the ML at -110 to make any coin.

Carrasco -- and CLE -- manhandle DET, but they are also a heavy -250 fave.

play along with me on this one if you like:

DraftKings claims that "in honor of Kobe" - it's his birth date - they have this offer:

bet at least $50 on the Lakers-Blazers game tonight, and you get a "free bet" worth a dollar for every point the Lakers score over 81 points - Kobe's career high.

these days the scores tend to be around 121-117, so if they Lakers score 121 then a get a $40 "free bet" regardless of how my real $50 bet does. so could be down 10 in that scenario with a chance to come out ahead by winning the free bet later this week.

with a silly $181 in this account now, I am trying the Lakers minus 8 points since I won on them in the last two games. superior teams that lose Game 1 tend to urinate on their impudent opponents for the rest of the series, from my anecdotal experience, at least.

worst-case scenario is I lose and the Lakers only score say, 101. then I am out 50 bucks, and only get a $20 free bet. and if I blow that, I'm out 50 bucks, period.

                          UPDATE:
pre-game target for me was Lakers score 30 points in every period and win each one as well.

end of 1st quarter: 43-25 Lakers.

I liked it better at 38-12 - but pigs and hogs and somebody gets slaughtered and all that.

to clarify, my $50 on the Lakers is pass/fail - win by 8 and collect, don't win by 8 and I lose.

the other one has the odometer begin at 81 points - and with 43 in 12 minutes, I like my chances for at least some sort of a free bet.

Blazers might have a second-quarter run in them, which would be annoying.

typically I don't add new posts and instead just update the original

but this one is so crazy that I couldn't blame someone for wondering if my original bets on this game were real

Lakers 80, Blazers 51 at halftime.

so after one free throw, all of the Lakers second-half points add to my free bet.

and up 29, I would hope they can win the damn game by 8 points as well !

                              Lakers 112, Blazers 87 after 3 quarters.

so "win by 8" looks fairly good, with a $31+ "free bet" - and growing - bonus already locked in.
