Patriots WR Julian Edelman was arrested for misdemeanor vandalism Saturday night in Beverly Hills.

Police allege Edelman, who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, jumped on the hood of a parked Mercedes around 9 PM local time, causing damage to the vehicle. The 33-year-old was cited and released later that night. The Los Angeles County D.A. is still weighing whether to charge him with a crime, though TMZ suggests Edelman may be able to avoid legal consequences if he agrees to simply pay for the damages. It's not a particularly good look for the long-tenured slot receiver, though this incident probably won't amount to much. (source: TMZ)

New Orleans police obtained an arrest warrant accusing Browns WR Odell Beckham of simple battery in relation to a locker room interaction he had with a police officer Monday night.

The Browns' statement: "We are aware of the incident and have been in touch with Odell and his representatives on the matter. They are cooperating with the proper authorities to appropriately address the situation." Beckham was caught on camera slapping a police officer on the back side during the midst of LSU's national championship celebration. OBJ is also under fire at the moment for appearing to hand out wads of cash to players following the game. Nobody was harmed in either instance, but dealing with the police and NCAA is never a great combination.

This is just ridiculous. Would Drew Brees have been issued an arrest warrant if he did the same?

How much did prior behavior influence the decision to issue the arrest warrant.

Drew Brees wouldn't do the dumb shit OBJ does(did).

What was his prior behavior? He was never arrested, nor did he ever have any off-field incidents I can recall.

Not saying that all, or any, of these are terrible. But he seems to be bizarre.

Odell Beckham Jr.'s curious TD celebration Sunday wasn't the first time the Giants receiver has had an unorthodox moment. A look back at some others.

He’s bizarre, sure, but most importantly only on the field. And none of these things listed are anything above a minor coaching nuisance.

Getting an arrest warrant — now likely being rescinded — for butt slapping a cop after his alma mater’s title win seemed, uhhh, odd at best. Like I said, would Drew Brees have been subjected to this nonsense if he did the same? I’d have to guess absolutely not. So why OBJ? One can only privately speculate.

Unless he slapped him hard enough to knock him down, the officer should really lighten up.

Beckham's legion of enablers are his worst enemies.

he's a clown who is wasting his remarkable talents, yet nothing he does seems to dent the enthusiasm of those enablers.

after 6 years, he is most famous for a highly superglove-enabled TD catch in a losing effort, flying to Miami with his bros the week of his only playoff appearance where he spit the bit, pretending to be a dog pissing on a fire hydrant in an end zone, and recently throwing cash at LSU players after their title win.

but it's all good, because he doesn't have a criminal record.

Actually, it's all good because he has five 1,000 yard seasons in his 6-year career to go with 48 TDs. He's also only 3rd All-Time with 86.8 receiving yards per game.

                      that is stellar propaganda:
                      - the second stat eliminates the issue of his missing 21 out of 96 games
                      - it pretends that receiving yards per game is a static stat over the years
                      - it ignores that his yearly rank keeps declining: 1/3/4/x/9/x
                      - two of those 'five 1,000-yard seasons' are not even in the top 10, and another is 10th
                      - his best TD ranks are 5th and 9th

if that's all you think of his skillset, then sure, it's all good.

No arrest, but Browns RB Kareem Hunt is extremely lucky after getting caught with marijuana and an open container of vodka. Amazingly, the cop lets him off with just a speeding ticket because he is a Cleveland Browns fan! The NFL may not be as kind.

                          This ignores that:
                          a) an old and decrepit Eli Manning was his QB for 2018 and a distracted and decrepit Baker Mayfield was his QB for 2019
                          b) if you want to ignore receiving yards per game because it wasn't a "static stat over the years," sure, let's do away with WAR and xFIP and wOBA too while we're at it.
                          c) TDs among WRs is nice and all, but if it's that important to you, I'd love to have you in my fantasy league when you ignore Julio Jones to take Marvin Jones.

The reality is OBJ is a Top 5 WR in terms of talent and production. If he gets a perfect scenario where he has a solid QB also, just watch.

Wait, WAR and wOBA are weighted stats that take league numbers into context? xFIP I can buy as equivalent.

That wasn't the point. It was that new-fangled stats were not "stats over the years" either. If he doesn't want to acknowledge "Yards Receiving Per Game" as important, which obviously simply shows how effective he is, then that's his call.
