  • Which WR1 should sit this week?

    D Thomas vs Miami
    B Marshall vs TB
    J Jones vs CLV
    Gordon @ ATL

I'm leaning towards sitting Jones. He has reached double digits only once in his past five games and he'll be covered mostly by Joe Haden. Also, we have Matt Ryan so if Jones goes off we'll still benefit. Plus Gordon has a primo matchup versus the Falcons. Am I assuming more risk than I need to with Gordon?
If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

It's tempting to start Gordon, but yeah, I'd sit him.

How did you end up with Thomas/Marshall/Julio? Cripes.

It's a keeper league and I had Maclin at 9, traded him (and Booby Dixon) for Thomas and Ivory. I think I've proposed trades to 80% of the league trying to get an upgrade at RB (have Bell, Vereen, and Ivory), but to no avail.

Jones' upside is capped this year by putrid O-Line play that gives Ryan no time to throw. But he does have a decent floor in PPR formats, so it depends on how risk averse you are, since we don't know what CLE will do with Gordon.

RB trades just don't happen in most leagues, unless it's a keeper league and a dumper is trading an RB who can't be kept.

I think I'd actually sit Julio but I'm a gambler. I think Gordon is gonna go bananas this week. I'd have no issue going with the steady pick and sitting Gordon, I just would take the chance.

The Browns in the thick of a playoff race are going to ease one of the best receivers in the game back in? I'm calling bs on that noise

You have an embarrassment of riches at WR, I'm jealous, so I'm not answering.

                Just kidding. Really tough call.

Gordon - bench him because no idea how he'll do first game back...but he averaged 100 ypg last year.
Jones - bench him because you have Matt Ryan anyway...but he is #8 in NFL in rec yards per game
Marshall - bench him because Bears so unpredictable/self-destructive...but he's playing TB, a bad pass defense
Thomas - bench him because he's the only one facing a good NFL pass defense...but Finnegan is likely out!

I'd bench Marshall because Lovie knows Cutler's tendencies and knows how good Marshall is, so he'll keep his defense deep. Tough call tho.

I have Julio, Calvin, Maclin and Gordon.... and I have decided to sit Julio.

Cleveland is still in contention for a playoff spot, and they really NEED Gordon if you ask me.

Julio and Calvin were keepers, and Gordon was 19th round pick, I think.

On almost any other roster, I'd say "you hung on to Gordon all year waiting for this moment and you're going to sit him when he returns????" However, as pointed out, your WR corps is stacked and I couldn't sit any of them at this point

Winner winner! I sat Julio and watched in amusement as he had his best game in over a month while Marshall shat the bed again. At least now I know I'm going with DT, Gordon, and Julio from here on out. I was down 11 going into last night with Ivory and Bills D. I was still down at half-time but Bills D blew up in the 2nd half and I cruised to my 8th victory. I'm in 3rd place but have 50 more points than any other team. The 2nd place team has a tough match up this week (though so do I), so I'm hoping to snake that 2nd bye from him. Thanks for all the advice.

Yeah I mean you gotta look at Marshall's matchups and Julio's but I don't see sitting DT or Gordo at all

Ha! I make a lucky call on occasion. This got me thinking - we should have a little contest for best starting lineup calls/advice. Maybe during fantasy football playoffs? Something like everyone posts a difficult lineup decision each week, everyone else gives advice, then after the week's end the person who posted reports who made the right/wrong call.
