  • Democratic Presidential Candidate for 2024

Seeing as how Midterms are closing in upon us and the race for the White House usually kicks off shortly after those, I thought we might start talking about who the Dems might run in 2024.

I can't see Biden nor Harris being viable candidates as Biden barely makes it through a day without missing something and Harris has really disappointed in her role as back up President.

Of all the potential candidates out there--I think Stacey Abrams would make the best candidate AND President.

I know Beto might gain some juice if he wins Texas in the Governor's race and Pete Buttigieg might have some sheen from his cabinet position, possibly even Klobuchar--but Abrams to me, is the whole package.

Feel free to spitball any and all Ideas.

Of course we all could be living in bomb shelters by 24 so there's that.

Fiiiiiine, Hillary gets the nomination and we get a Hillary-Trump rematch.

I'd actually take Post Conservatorship Spears over either of those two....

I like Newsom. Abrams is a good one. The cupboard seems a little bare after that.

Still a lot of time, but at this point seems like it won't matter much, I expect the Dems to lose. Low expectations are important in life

Knowing they will very likely lose going into it, I bet the Dems try to run someone who seems slightly progressive. That way, when they lose they can say it's because they were "too radical". Best way to weaponize a lame-duck year.

Kinda like when Biden was called the "most progressive President of our lifetime", then delivered on less than 10% of his promises. Yet the media blames Biden's low polling on doing TOO MUCH. Insanity.

They need a Bernie style candidate who's willing to call out the Democratic party directly instead of apologizing for nonsense and avoiding criticizing the party directly. Running on Dem corruption would be a Trump style 'populist' movement that would win back non-voters. Bernie 2020 built the largest grass roots movement of donors and activists of any campaign in history. Those folks are still there, ready to take the party to victory if given anything/anyone worth fighting for.

Abrams is at the top of a small and uninspiring list. Seems most likely at this point. She will support and promote the Dem brand wholeheartedly, which will likely get her the nomination but lose her the election.

It is too early to tell or to concede. But yeah, the prospects don't look good. I'm still hoping for a total dark horse with charisma and a strong platform to emerge.

Maybe not in 2024, but here's a Democrat who's star is rising. Michigan Senator Mallory McMorrow:

That was an impressive speech. I can't believe the GOP has sunken so low as to characterize opposition as "groomers" and suggesting they are actively or passively okay with pedophilia. I mean, I guess I can believe it, but it really sucks that this is what they have become.

Hell of a speech. I love the unabashed defense of herself in the face of slime ball politics. It is nice to see backbone and a Dem fighting for turf too often ceded to Republicans--family values, service, and faith--and also a full throated pushback on the narrative that tackling our dark history is the same thing as trying to shame children and make them feel bad, which, of course, it is not and no reasonable person wants it to be.
