  • Hillary 2024

Now I may be wrong, but I get a sneaking suspicion that HRC is quietly (or not so quietly) laying the groundwork for a run in 24.

#1 there's no way Biden runs in 24, again, I may be wrong, but he seems to struggle with consistency and coherency on occasion and It's not even a year into his term.

#2 If Kamala were to be the Dems choice to replace him as the nominee, they'd be doing a better job of defining her role as VP and putting her in situations where she gets the "Win" as opposed to letting her twist in the wind.

#3 There's been quite a bit of chatter from Clinton supporters re' Hillary was Right, HRC would have saved Roe V Wade, SCOTUS, etc.

#4 HRC has been on several interviews lately, all seemingly designed to pay he r homage and she's definitely sporting a more "approachable" facade.

#5 HRC Allies like Huma Abedin are also hitting the circuit and always seem to turn every moment into a propo for Hillary.

#6 There's NO CHANCE HRC wants any other woman to be the 1st Female President.

    #7 The DNC.

Again, I may be wrong, and it's just a feeling...BUT...

I have no idea if she will run, but if she is the Dem nominee when the dust settles, she will lose. The same goes for Biden and Harris. We need someone new.

          Please no. Enough already.

I agree, no matter what he says, Biden isn't running in '24. My best guess for the Dem nominee? California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Which makes sense--isn't he in the Pelosi Clan?

I'm not sure. But it is amusing that his ex-wife is now Don Jr's girlfriend.

I think your overall assessment is correct. Other comments:

#1 there's no way Biden runs in 24, again, I may be wrong, but he seems to struggle with consistency and coherency on occasion and It's not even a year into his term.
Other than the term "on occasion" which is more like "almost invariably", I think you're right. Though if he stays physically healthy, he might just be stubborn enough to run.

#2 If Kamala were to be the Dems choice to replace him as the nominee, they'd be doing a better job of defining her role as VP and putting her in situations where she gets the "Win" as opposed to letting her twist in the wind.
This is every bit as much her fault as anyone else's. There's good reasons she garnered less than 1% polling in the Dem primary and had to drop out as early as she did.

All true. And there's been some puff pieces in Dem leaning print media as well.

#6 There's NO CHANCE HRC wants any other woman to be the 1st Female President.
I agree with your point. And it's not all bad. Someone who wants to reach that pinnacle of power has to have a strong ego, regardless of gender. There's a lot of other reasons I don't like HRC, but wanting to be first isn't one of them.

                #7 The DNC.
I don't know this is actually true anymore. Yes, she still has a number of allies on the DNC. But they don't want to back a losing horse, either. If there's a candidate that's acceptable to the DNC who has a better chance of winning, I don't think she'll get their overwhelming support. Using revo's concept of Gavin Newsom, I have no doubt the DNC will back Newsom really fast over Hillary.

The reason the Democrats are doomed to lose in 2024 is because Biden has delivered his voters even less than the crumbs they expected. It shouldn't be about fake platitudes and charisma, but that's what the DNC wants, someone who represents nothing.

It was recently reported that Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg were the insider favorites, with Sherrod Brown also floated. This despite all of the above racking up L after L in their WH roles.

Sour Masher is right, you need to pull an emergency switch to have any hope. Why not try an actual progressive next time? Clearly delivering "moderate/fuck-yourself" policies is tanking support for the party.

Maybe if Pelosi were to exit her role and be replaced with a less hated figure, that might kickstart the transformation needed to win back voters.
Larry David was once being heckled, long before any success. Heckler says "I'm taking my dog over to fuck your mother, weekly." Larry responds "I hate to tell you this, but your dog isn't liking it."

Voters might, but Bernie needs to park his ego and let a younger, more charismatic progressive run for it to happen.

Why not go the celebrity route?

All of Hollywood is behind the Dems, how about Tom Hanks?

Hanks is not crazy enough to want the job. The Rock seems to want it. Maybe he will run.

I don't even know if the Rock would run as a Dem, but I'd love to see old man former guy try to intimidate him in a debate by walking around sniffing behind him to see what the Rock was cooking. Not more than I'd love to see him in prison, but I'll take a cage match between them as a consolation prize.

Doug Schoen and Andrew Stein have a long piece in the Wall Street Journal on Hillary in 2024. The neo-con old guard ain't goin' down without a fight, I guess.
