  • Robert Kennedy killer to get paroled

Sirhan Sirhan convicted killer of RFK won his parole . I never thought any killer of such fame would ever get out.
    Some interesting facts:
Members of the Kennedy Family supported his release. His Son for one who claims he thinks there was another gun man.
Prosecutors could not by law be in the court to oppose the hearing/ release.

Where does he go to live out his life?

Sirhan Sirhan fired shots from in front of Bobby Kennedy. The fatal wound to RFK was to the back of his head.

Interesting fact about the RFK assassination: Sports Illustrated writer George Plimpton (author of the Sidd Finch April Fool's day prank/story) was one of several people who wrestled the gun away from Sirhan Sirhan.

It's amazing to think about an alternative history had he lived.

RFK would have won the Dem nomination -- no disastrous Dem Convention of 1968 -- and almost certainly would have defeated Nixon in the general (this of course, assumes there was no cheating). With Nixon out of the way -- no Watergate -- he likely would have faced off against Ronald Reagan or the right wing George Wallace (the Donald Trump of his era) in 1972, and depending on his Vietnam & civil rights policies, likely could have won a 2nd term (and maybe end the Reagan era before it started).

This got me googling for an alternative history book ... Found this one, might give it a read ... A Disturbance of Fate, The Presidency of Robert F. Kennedy
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

Wallace would never have won the nomination.

It would have depended on what civil rights agenda RFK enacted during his term. Remember, the backlash LBJ faced when pushing the Civil Rights Act of 1964 caused the white flight to the Republican party. One never knows!

Nor, for Wallace was a Democrat.

How in the hell can he get paroled? I would think life in prison for what he did was generous. He should have been executed.

Evidence supports that he didn't fire the fatal shot. Only shots that missed.

Is that true? I've never heard that.

BTW, Gov Newsom denied his parole.

More American children die by gunfire in a year than on-duty police officers and active duty military.
