49/51 the cat needs the warmth.

Sadly the office will remain cold... I rejoined society this morning just as I was about to leave for work.

Can any of my fellow New Yorkers tell me why our dopey Mayor is going on with this Marathon when there are still people in the city, Brooklyn, and especially Staten Island who seems to be the forgotten borough are still underwater with no power or food.

        Its beyond outrageous.

It looks like most of the more inland parts of NJ and NY werent hit too hard?

This is true. I live less than 1 hr west of Seaside Park/Heights and damage not that bad out here. We were hit with strong winds, but nothing hurricane force. Looks like I might get power back today. My wife called and said the power crews were at the beginning of our street (though that is 2 miles away from our house).
Bob- I'm not exactly sure it would ROCK as you say it Byron.. it may be cool, by typical text book descriptions. Your opinion of this is shallow and poorly constructed, but allow me to re-craft your initial thought into something tangable.

Looks like a good time to set up a pop-up landscape gardening company.

I'm another 30 minutes west of Piney, and we just have lots of downed trees and power lines. A few trees in my development landed on people's cars, one took out the roof of an apartment building. Lots of people with well water here so when you lose electricity you also lose your water (pump). A couple of my coworkers had windows blown in, but nothing like those pictures.

WaWa (think 7-11 only nicer and with a deli) stayed open so I remained fed the whole time.

                      Atlantic City casinos back open.

As of 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, Atlantic City is back in business.

Gov. Chris Christie announced travel restrictions into the city were lifted and the casinos were reopened as of 10 a.m.

Division of Gaming Enforcement investigators and personnel have been assigned to each property to ensure compliance with internal control issues and to complete a final authorization to commence operations, according to the Governor's Office.

Much like it was here after Ike. Galveston was flattened in many areas just like those pics but Houston didnt get beat up that bad besides some roof damage, fences, trees, and power outages. Oh, and flooding. All that added up to a lot of $ to repair but not much here got wiped out.

Hopefully things will be back to normal for you in a few days.

Wawa never closes. They run out of stuff though. Local Wawa ran out of coffee on Tuesday. I bet there was a panic then. I don't drink coffee. Feeding a family of 5 there is expensive though.

I think they were rumored to be closing some stores Monday night at 9, but they were back open by the next day. When I stopped by on Monday evening to get a sandwich (meatball with provolone) I said to the guy at the deli, "I'm sorry but thankful that you are here."

seriously though... what is up with running the marathon. That seems like a really poor decision, although I'm not boots on the ground there.
