      • Well I didn't participate in this, but I wanted to check into it late. I started running in April. I was somewhere around 196. Yesterday I ran a 10K for the first time since I was 10 and I am now down around 180. I ran the race in 47:16 and tomorrow I am signing up for the Pittsburgh 1/2 Marathon in May. I am hoping to get down to 175 before then and who knows if I can lose more. Anyway you guys were losing it a lot faster than I was so I never really wanted to keep score here, but yesterday when I finished the race I felt pretty good. I hope you all finished well.

47:16 is an incredible time. I ran 10K in 55:11 in April, although I'm in better running shape now.

Once you get to the point of running 10K or marathon training, the number on the scale becomes entirely secondary to how fit you're feeling. The 168 lb me from 6 months ago is entirely different than the 168 lbs that I am today. Running firms up your entire upper body and midsection more than I expected.

How did you have time to run away with the MSGL trophy AND post a 47 minute 10K this year?

          • Great to see the updates!

Life's whims have kicked me in the teeth this year, but I still think of this thread often. Will not surrender my fitness due to stress.
Have been inspired by too many in this thread to allow it, even fighting a lesser weight burden than many/most here. I respect the efforts too much to let that happen.

Thank you for your fight, and for your posts, and keep it up.....

            • I am looking forward to this "competition" next year. I have been wanting to lose weight, but haven't had the motivation/goal to do so. In the past month, I have found a goal that requires me to lose weight and get into shape. When we start up next year, I hope to already have a running start into the new year!
Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?

                • I can't believe it's been 2-1/2 months since I last checked in here ... no updates from me since mid-July, which coincidentally, was around when my work-life balance tipped heavily toward the "work" end of the scale. Long days & nights at a desk have cut deeply into whatever time I had for exercise. Luckily, even though I don't have the time to log meals anymore, I've been able to keep a pretty good handle on my eating, so I've been able to hold steady and not regain anything I've lost -- today I'm at 222, right where I was at my last check-in in July. Of course, my trade deadline and World Series goals have gone out the window, but I'm in a good spot to resume once work lets up (hopefully by the end of the month).

                  • Coincidentally I just got a physical and also weighed 222.
If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

                    • I'm still maintaining in the mid 230 range. Injured my back in August, so not much activity or exercise went on for about 6 weeks and i still need to take it easy. Just focused on food, so i didn't blow up. Will probably just stay here until after the holidays and then make another push to my goal weight once the back is a-ok again.

Thanks, I took my build up real slow and was able to keep my pace up. I went from not running at all to doing a 5K in July at 22:40 or so and then started training for the 10K. As for finding time, I think a big key was getting my wife involved. This summer we would alternate going out running and watching the kids. That way we were both motivate and each of us got time away at night from the kids to run. My MSGL success is based mostly on years and years of failure and having great keepers and farm players to go with a few nice auction buys. I am hoping I can keep my total over 110. Anyway, I did sign up for the half marathon today, so let the next round of training begin.
