like Secretariat down the stretch at the Belmont: I lost 8.5 lbs in the last 3 weeks after needing 7 weeks to lose the previous 7

did a SIX-mile hike on Saturday, about double the usual - and yes, I still feel it. followed with a full rack of ribs just because - well, because I could.

goal was 185 on Opening Day, and I hit it on Monday!

and like most of you, I'm not going away.
I bottomed out in 2006 at 178, which at 6-foot apparently is my proper number. would be fun to get back there.

fun fact: once you weigh what you should, you stay the same whether you eat 1600 calories, or 2000.
but yes, you get fat again if you start eating more than that and don't negate it with a corresponding amount of exercise...

Awesome dude. It's stating the obvious, but when you really commit to the exercise you can get some nice results every week.

Lost 3 1/2 for the week
    Down 31 total

Opening day goal 265 achieved even though it really wasn't a major goal. I'm still in it for the big picture goal of getting to a healthy weight for my height. I was able to be active everyday last week. Visited my family over the weekend in upstate NY and had a nice run/walk everyday at a nature trail(3-4 miles) and also used an elliptical machine everyday. The food is the easiest part of this for me at this point. Stay motivated for the exercise is my biggest fight. Weeks like this help with that motivation though.

    Long term goal 220.

Well, I'm very satisfied with how this went. My opening day goal was 175, so I crushed that mark a month back. From where I stand now, 6'0 and 168 lbs, I look lean. I'm still striking out with women (I prefer to call it a choice, ha!), but the girls approaching me seem much more attractive than they were when I lived life as a fat guy. If I ever learn how to expand my vocabulary beyond "uhhhhh..... yeah," then I should start reaping benefits immediately.

Oh, my softball team is also thrilled. Softball was my main motivation for getting into shape, and after starting last season huffing and puffing in the 215 lb range, I'm down nearly 50 pounds since then! I was playing a roving infielder on drills yesterday, and swear that I could've gone another hour past the point that we quit. Trying to convert from RF to 2B, but being lighter will help wherever I end up.

Thanks for the continuation of this thread. Although I'm going to continue with it, my goals have changed. My plan was always to strip away all of the fat and then start to work on gaining athleticism. Looking forward to the challenge.

Back on track after stalling last week. I need to drop one more pound over the next few days to hit my goal, and I should be able to manage it. Still a ways to go after that, so I'm hoping I can keep up the pace of a couple pounds a week. Summer will bring the opportunity to be more active, but also temptations like cookouts and beer...

The opposite of JJ. Started at 214, down to 203 over a month ago and nothing since. After the hot start I started to look to 189 instead of my stated 199 goal. Sad.

I think I'm eating a lot better. Haven't had fast food since this started, have gone from red meat 4 times a week to maybe 4 times since the start. I'm eating a lot more fish. I think the dietary changes are sustainable, but I need to get back to more water, less carbs and more exercise again.
I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert...

For the past week: -1.8 lbs
              Since the start: -21.2 lbs

Didn't quite make my opening day goal but I'm definitely happy with losing >20 pounds. As I said, I'm willing to continue doing this until I reach my ultimate goal of 190.

                - 2 lbs for the week - 3 days at the gym 1 night of poker plus my 28 year old draft Sat - then a 3 mile walk on Sunday. My true starting weight was 236 early last winter so I had started to lose before we started this. Quite please with the last month really have my Eating at a good place . Only ate 1 sandwich at the draft and 2 beers.

1 bonus of going through a divorce is I truly control the cooking/eating - My soon to be ex was really a good cook & it was hard to turn down what she cooked. Tons of potatoes & pasta dishes. Plus she was a soda /chip hound. Now I don't buy it so if it isn't in the house I don't crave/eat it.

Have not updated in awhile as I have been very busy. Nothing to report. Continue to bounce around 253-254, though now that the weather is turning, I am hoping to start making a dent in this and get back to posting some successful numbers.

Dropped another lb during the week - and gave it all back and then some for Easter dinner!

But back in the saddle today.
