I am surprised that only 6 people (including me) answered that they used to smoke, but quit. Maybe it's because I'm older than the average Penner, but when I was in college a lot of us smoked, then later quit after graduation.

My freshman year in college (1989), I lived on a floor with about 40 other people, and of all of them, only one smoked. The culture, at least among highly educated types, had definitely changed by then. I encountered many more smokers hanging out with musicians in NYC than I ever did in college.
