    I'll say Romney, but I don't say that with any great deal of confidence.

      I would have said Romney, but if Florida moves up their primary and Perry wins it, I think he gets the momentum.

        It seems now that the base wants the purple banana, but I think after we go through 3 more bananas Romney will still be standing.
        I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert...

          The GOP seems to have a hierarchy when it comes to this stuff. Previous campaign's runner-up often gets the nod (when the GOP is not running an incumbent).

          Reagan 2nd in 1976, 1st in 1980.
          Dole 2nd in 1988, 1st in 1996.
          McCain 2nd in 2000, 1st in 2008.
          Romney 2nd in 2008, 1st in 2012?

            You might as well include Nixon: nominated twice, winning once. Going back further, Dewey had multiple shots.
