I think I only have one of their albums, but I enjoy it quite a bit. Saw them in concert with Bonham. Bonham only had a top 55 single from my 30 second google search

I saw them once in the early 00s. Good show.

Just realized by our parameters, the White Stripes are a 1 hit wonder with... Icky-Thump?!? I went into it expecting 7 Nation Army, but it only got to 76. Blue Orchid hit 43, and Icky-Thump reached 26

Yet more evidence that the strict "Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100" definition is dumb. I believe Hendrix also qualifies under that (All Along the Watchtower).

That's why we used Top 20, and also eliminated acts like Hendrix ("artist must not have been known for not releasing singles (i.e. Grateful Dead)").

            When's the 1st round cutoff?
If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

The first 4 albums from the Cult starting with "Dreamtine" are fucking awesome. Fucking awesome!! All 4 have a different vibe and musical slant. Saw them in 1991 and it was a fantastic concert.

                  • A few other one hit wonders who probably would not have advanced from the prelims:

                    - "I'll Be There For You" by the Rembrandts
                    - "I Would Walk (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers
                    - "When I'm With You" by Sheriff
                    - "Roll to Me" by Del Amitri
                    - "Sweetheart" by Franke and the Knockouts
                    - "99 Luftballons" by Nena

Love I would Walk (500 miles) and would have easily voted for it.

It would have depended on matchups, but none of those are a big deal for me.

                        • It's interesting when looking up "One Hit Wonders" that a few made TV countdown lists yet aren't one hit wonders:

                          - A-Ha - "Take On Me" - had another Top 20 in the US (The Sun Always Shines on Me -- never heard of it), and were a hit machine in Europe (14 Top 20 songs in the UK).
                          - The Knack - "My Sharona" -- "Good Girls Don't," off the same 'Get the Knack' album, went to #11 in the US
                          - "Pass the Dutchie" -- Musical Youth -- had another hit with Donna Summer ("Unconditional Love")
                          - Vanilla Ice -- who also had a Top 5 hit with his remake of "Play That Funky Music"
