Yup ... Zito and Frank Howard is nearly 188 ... and there has to be a better option than Howard.

Weirdly though, I think I made the right decision with Zernial at the time.

      Yes, I had one remaining.

        • Another strange quirk of Franchise drafts:

Many more HR's than SB's, yet still more Runs than RBI's.

SB's clearly worth considerably more in this format.

Not sure if anyone is interested in my strats, but since I wasn't sure on how franchises would shift the values, and decided to hedge in the early game with my hitters ... I was primarily looking for 10 category hitters:

Of my first 8 hitters, only 2 of the 32 BY counting stat categories failed to yield either double digit HR / SB or triple digit Run's / RBI's. I think that paid off, because I found it hard to add more career SB's (despite having Wagner, Dahlen and Griffin). In hindsight that was fine, but during the draft I felt I'd be light. i really needed that trickle of SB's from those early hitters.

I had several "locks" since about 2/3 through and only ended up using Zisk.

Thanks -- I accomplished my main goal which was to build a legal roster and not incur the penalty/shame of running out of eligible players. Was an unexpected bonus to get the "pick of the draft" (Ibáñez) according to Bene. That has been screenshotted and will certainly end up framed & hung on my office wall.

Congratulations to Johnny on your sweet victory -- that was some top-notch pickin'.

They were Moisés Alou and the always-underrated Charles Johnson. Mesa should hold his head high.

                  • meh, picking the right franchise with Beckley allows me to take Waner as a hitter and save ATL for Smoltz and pushes me past Ken. Sad.
