  • Trying to get Chris Davis..

    14 team..mixed..5x5..$300 budget..

    Davis is $6 in 2014 and $11 in 2015.

    I could offer

Bumgarner $17 in 2014 (cannot be kept)
    Rios $9 in 2014 and $14 in 2015 OR Craig $6 in 2014 and $11 in 2015
and another from Ubaldo $3 or Venable $1 or Byrd $1

    Thoughts?

    Thanks..

That is a solid offer, but I don't think I'd pull the trigger on it if I'm the Davis owner, although it is close--I like Bums, Rios, and Venable. It all depends on just how much regression the other owner expects from Davis.

I don't think it helps you that most projection systems still have Davis top 10, even with regression. He may very well regress even more than folks think, but it is hard trading what is perceived to be a top 10 producer at that price. If he doesn't do it, again, it may end up working out for you. Your guys are more proven commodities.

I don't know if I would deal a $9 Rios for a $6 Davis, much less throw in Bumgarner and Venable.

Depending on the # of keepers in a 14 teamer, this guy might not be able to keep all 3 players offered anyway, so that might be a factor.

Just because an offer is fair does not mean that it needs to be accepted. I am often given fair offers that I have no desire to pull the trigger. In this case if I am the Davis owner I doubt I pull the trigger. Not because it isn't fair, just doesn't do it for me.

Sorry we can keep up to 8. His last two keepers will be pretty average. Nothing special.

Unless my pitching was depleted, I wouldn't deal Davis for Rios & Bumgarner, even though it is a fair offer.

That's way too much for Davis. I'd rather have Rios, but I understand that most people value Davis over Rios. I wouldn't deal a top 10 pitcher for what's, at best, a slight upgrade from Rios to Davis.

i'd call davis much more than a "slight upgrade" from rios. 20 more HR (at least), ~30 more RBI, and ~15 more R, offset by only an additional ~15 SB from rios (with SB being the easiest category to catch up in).

i have rios at $6 in my main league, and i'm ecstatic about that, but rios is not even close to davis.

Just goes to show that it'd be a good offer at least, Mith.

Thanks.. I like to get the opinions here to make sure i am not way off base.

I realize that my opinion is in the minority here. Whether I'm right or wrong, this gives me something else to follow this season.

Also keep in mind we are talking about Davis at his physical prime in what is a very good lineup.

Davis owner will do Rios/Craig/Ubaldo for Davis.

Should i do it? I'm thinking yes.

Yes. Your keeper depth means you don't lose much value in the quantity you are giving. Your overall keeper list improves.
