  • Ruggiano traded to the Cubs

He don't got this any longer! For Brian Bogusevic.

This could be a good opportunity for Ruggiano. Certainly the current Cubs OFs are hardly the strongest competition.

As a matter of fact, I'd categorize the current group by using that precise scientific term, "Bad". Schierholtz-Sweeney-Lake? Ugh. This could be a decent landing spot for Nelson Cruz, but I haven't heard or read anything in that direction. It would be a shame for Theo/Ned to saddle the new manager with the current outfield crew.

Are they planning to tank 2014 or not?

        Ruggiano is horrible.

If he faces lefties that throw him fastballs, he's good. He can't hit anything with a wrinkle or change in speed.

Which may make him better than Sweeney against lefties.
