The Dodgers trade Andre Ethier & $60m to the Mets for Jordany Valdespin
The struggling Dodgers need to clear room for Puig/Pederson, and Ethier is a) not worth the money, and b) firmly in the doghouse. The Mets have no OF prospects of any note on the horizon, so Magic Johnson & co. send the maligned Ethier to the Big Apple, where he's a welcome addition to RF. The Mets are tired of Valdespin's antics, but he finds a home as a potential starter at 2B.
