Nez Balelo, the agent for Shohei Ohtani, announced Tuesday that Ohtani underwent successful elbow surgery on Tuesday morning.
Balelo did not name the procedure, but it was not Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. The operation was performed by renowned surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache who noted “The ultimate plan after deliberation with Shohei, was to repair the issue at hand and to reinforce the healthy ligament in place while adding viable tissue for the longevity of the elbow”. ElAttrache also said that he expects Ohtani to be able to hit without any restrictions at the start of the 2024 season and to pitch without any restrictions in 2025. As anticipated, it looks like Ohtani will be limited to DH duties for the duration of the 2024 campaign before returning to being a two-way player for the 2025 season.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost in time, like tears...in rain. Time to die.Comment
