Los Angeles Angels two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani set a new franchise record during Tuesday's 2-0 victory against the Washington Nationals (box score) by notching his 10th consecutive start in which he surrendered two runs or fewer. The Angels' record for such starts had previously belonged to Nolan Ryan, who tallied nine in 1972-73.

We have daily moves. On days when Ohtani pitches we do not get his batting stats. He gave me a great pitching line last night at the expense of his 2 homeruns. Kind of hard to be mad.

What do you think the odds are that he will stay in the AL?

              No regrets.

Even if he stays in the AL I obviously will throw him back. But I will also own him again next year at a much reduced cost.

Why are you higher than market on him?

It seems like the better play at this point is to fade as the perceived value will be high (I doubt he goes as cheap as you would assume simply due to the name), relative to an aging pitcher who has had multiple UCL injuries.

Every player I have ever owned i paid $1 too much for. Kidding aside. I think I will be in a two year rebuild mode going into the auction. New contracts are good for 3 years. We have daily moves. I will have him cheap in year two ( assumes he pitches good again) or he makes a great trade piece mid season next year.

The worst reason I have is that he was just plain fun to own this year (first time buyer). 30 is not old.30 is not old.

Fair, if you are playing for the fun aspect owning Ohtani has a potential to be really fun.

When I said aging I didn't mean he's too old but simply that he's likely already hit his peak. I suspect people at some point will be paying for an upside that he'll never see again.
