Well, he's a young player, who would likely be allowed to suck for the last two months of the season, but if the Diamondbacks make a real run of it against the Giants for the West and he is struggling, he'll lose the job. Not sure who will get it at this point, but teams in contention do not usually give struggling rookies lots of at-bats. That said, he clearly has a chance RIGHT NOW. What he does with it, we shall have to see.
With the Gomes signing Allen has to be traded within the next 48 hrs, no?
why the rush? Are they short a spot on the 40 man roster?
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”
and Brandon Allen has been DFA's by Oakland -- so they could activate Daric Barton?? There must be some serious holes in Allen's game if a pipsqueak bat at 1B is a better option.....

Yeah, odd. It seems that Allen just canNOT catch a break. He hasn't been great in his MLB time, but he's only been given 331 ABs spread over four seasons. That is not a real look at a guy. There must be something personal going on here. Until we see 250 ABs in a row, give him a chance to catch his stride, we can't really judge what kind of player he could be. But, it's looking more and more like he is never going to get that chance.

Like you said... Matt Murton curse. I don't think he's a clubhouse cancer so that can't be it.
