The MLBPA is prepared to offer a deferral of a percentage of player salaries for this year, and MLB is prepared to scrap the 50-50 revenue sharing idea they proposed, which is a good start. Both sides are expected to discuss their economic proposals on Tuesday.

Originally posted by revo View PostThere’s no question a season will happen now. The NBA & NHL are moving along, having their players and owners readily agree on all measures and parameters as they move forward. At this point, MLB simply couldn’t use the virus as an excuse if things fall apart, which means they have no alternative. They have fo find a middleground.

- increased stadium advertising that will be viewable on TV, including on-field ads (like they do for soccer & rugby)
- increased sponsorship deals
- brand logos on uniforms & caps
Heck, they could even do what horse racing & college football do, and sell sponsorships to teams ("The Mastercard NY Yankees")
Still, they need to strike while the iron is hot. Once MLB, the NBA & the NHL return, all is back to normal. They have a good month to themselves.

Edit to add - But I really wonder. The Angels are said to be making steep cuts and furloughs. The Brewers, OTOH, have committed to paying all staff through October, with higher paid employees taking pay cuts for 2020.Last edited by chancellor; 05-26-2020, 02:21 PM.I'm just here for the baseball.
