Unusual ROTO Stats

What are you playing this year? I have a 20 team league that is running.

R, RBI, OBA, SLG, NSB (Net Stolen Bases)
K, ERA, WHIP, QS, NSVH (Net Saves and Holds)

This is a shift from total bases to slugging average. The idea is to give both hitters and pitchers three counting and two ratio stats.

I really like what your league is doing here!

OBP replacing AVG makes sense to me because it accounts for BB

SLG replacing HRs makes sense because it gives value to doubles, and triples.

I'm not really a QS fan but neither am I a Wins fan either.

In a 20 team league I think valuing Holds is absolutely necessary so S+H is as good as any I can think of.

The reliever category really punishes crappy closers, so good setup guys go for more than them.

The reliever category really punishes crappy closers, so good setup guys go for more than them.

The one we use is actually SV+Hld-BS. Yes, a good 8th inning guy is worth more than a crappy closer. The other refinements are not optional on the platform.

for pitching, we started using a few years back:
QS replaced W and Saves were replaced by Saves+Holds

Since QS are more and more difficult to get and we wanted to place more value back on closers, we made these changes for last year:
QS+W (where a QS get you 2 points and a W gets 1 point)
Saves+Holds (where a Save gets 2 points and a Hold gets 1 point)

yes, a starting pitcher can now get you 3 points in a single game, but overall these changes have been good for the league.
