The entire hot stove season condensed into one night!

      Where does Wil Myers play?

8 year deal with opt out after 5 per Morosi

would have to figure Myers to LF and Jose Pirela to 4th OF or even starting 2b

Player opt out after 5 years= Preller is back to bipolar Preller

It has to be a player opt out. Boras isn't ever going to grant a team opt out. Hosmer will be 33 if he opts out after 5 years

            also, this aged well

Maybe owners are kicking in for salary in the last 3 years to prove no collusion.

                it's $20M per year over 1st 5 and then $13 a year over final 3

That's not a bad deal after all

Without knowing the money structure, we have no idea whether this is a good deal for Hosmer, the Padres, or nobody.

So 8/139. Earlier reports were 7/147. Still way too much in this market.

My point was made while I was typing it, lol. Not a bad deal for the Padres there. The opt-out is with a reduction in risk for the team.

Turns out that Boras knew what he was doing...again. Instead of the 7/140 floated for months, he actually got 8/144. A little less in AAV, but an extra year for a slightly above middling 1st baseman. Not a franchise killer for the Pads, but not a winner by any means either, IMO.

He Also gets a 5 million dollar signing bonus, according to Scott Miller, and a full 3 year no trade clause. So that brings it to 144...
