  • Good news for Dan Hudson (Az)?

I have thought that part of Hudson's struggles were due to pitching after Kennedy. They are similar pitchers so Hudson was pitching with a disadvantage because batters had "practiced" against Kennedy and were ready for Hudson.

Anyway, Kennedy was pushed ahead of Armando Galarraga for Thursday's game against Colorado. Galarraga will start Friday in the first game of a three-game series in San Diego. Hudson follows Galarraga on Saturday. Galarraga looks to be a sinker/slider/changeup pitcher so batters will be getting a different look when Hudson follows.

Hopefully Hudson can start a roll like the second half last year.

It certainly won't hurt to separate Kennedy and Hudson, but I don't think it will be much of a factor either. Hudson has a 2.80 FIP despite his 5.30 ERA, so he's still getting strikeouts and preventing walks and home runs. His BABIP numbers are poor (.343), and his LOB% has dropped to 58.9%. If those two numbers move back toward their usual levels, Hudson should be fine.
