  • Yeah...it's this conundrum again.

Sorry to bother all with this again...but it's driving me a little batty.

I can keep seven unsalaried prospects from year to year.
I can sit on them as long as I want as long as I keep them in my minors; once I activate them, they start a three-year max contract ($5, $6, $7).

Here are the candidates (those with an asterisk are undoubtedly being kept):

    Jason Heyward*
    Domonic Brown*
    Justin Smoak
    Freddie Freeman
    Homer Bailey
    Aroldis Chapman
    Matt Moore
    Tyler Colvin
    Edinson Volquez

I'm currently thinking of dropping Colvin and Volquez...but welcome points to the contrary. Is it better to keep Volquez over Bailey or Chapman?

If it was my team I would be dropping Colvin and Moore. All the rest should have positive value (not sold on Smoak for this year but like him better than Moore).

Answering your other question. I like Volquez and Bailey better than Chapman for this year but his name and potential are too big to consider dropping him. I think I find the Trout owner and try to trade Chapman and Moore for him.
