Considering he's locked up for the next four years at $53m, the O's better hope not!

Markakis has become one of the most over-rated hitters out there, even moreso in fantasy. 12 HRs, 60 RBIs in 630 ABs? Granted, the guy's a .300 hitter, but come on now.

I read something today which said he came to bat with runners in scoring position in just 135 out of 600 + at bats. This seems like a low number of opportunities (too lazy to confirm right now) and could very well be the reason for the poor 2010 rbi output. Looking at 2011, the roster definitely looks stronger especially if vladdy gets off his dye/washburn horse and signs...

What's wrong with Ben Grieve? Why, if not for him and Todd Van Poppel, the A's wouldn't have won all those championships back in the late 90's... oh. Yeah. Never mind.

Grieve had nice walk rates but he also struck out 25% of the time and hit copious amounts of ground balls. Markakis has shown some ability to post nice walk rates, doesn't have a 2:1 G/F, and makes much better contact. He just doesn't do much with hit. But he should be able to be an empty .290/.370/.440 guy even if he doesn't remember how to put the ball over the fence. David Dejesus would be a better comp.
