Today is the 74th anniversary of the U.S. dropping the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. This bombing and the subsequent bombing of Nagasaki, Japan 3 days later killed over 100,000 people.

The "Enola Gay" is the Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber used in the Hiroshima bombing. It was named after Enola Gay Tibbets, the mother of the pilot, Colonel Paul Tibbets.
"Little Boy" was the codename for the type of atomic bomb dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima at 8:15 am on August 6, 1945.
The "Enola Gay" is currently displayed at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia
