NL-Only Keeper Advice (5x5)

Hi all,

Our keeper deadline is a little less than two weeks away, so I was hoping to get a few opinions on my protections (and particularly extensions). It's a standard 5x5, NL-Only Auction League. 10 Teams, $280 for 25 (2 C, 2 UT, 10 P), we can keep as many or as few players as we like. I had one of my weaker keeper lists coming into the offseason to begin with, and then lost several hitters to the AL over the winter, so I'm not sure what to think about this team.

All players are entering their second season unless noted. Players in their option year can be kept at the same price for one more year, or extended at $5 per additional season.

I like your must keeps.

I give none of your option year players a raise except Duvall. I give him 1 year.

You should just drop Edwin Jackson now so none of his stank infects your other keepers.

I like Barraclough, but in a 10 team I would drop him and rebid him at auction. You might save a few bucks and get a fresh contract.

Love Luke Weaver at his contract.

First note - this is a pretty decent list. I'm almost scared to see how good it was before you had people dealt to the AL. In any case:

SS Brandon Crawford, SF $8 - Keep. He's a near lock to deliver $10-15.

OF Adam Duvall, Cin $2 (Option Year) - I'd give him one year. If he has another hot first half, deal him to a rebuilder.

I'm mostly on the fence about guys like Cervelli, Buehler, Barraclough and Nova. Buehler I'm leaning towards keeping, but then I could see keeping all three of the others, or none of them.

As far as who I lost to the AL, I had Dee Gordon and J.D. Martinez at good prices among others, as well as Ohtani on my minor league roster before he signed (though him coming to the NL was always a long shot).

I think this all looks good. I would not sign Duvall. I dunno what the future of the Reds' OF is. Just enjoy the bargain. I would keep Buehler and Cervelli. With 20 catchers being drafted Cervelli will earn his 3 bucks. With Bearclaw's walk rate and Steckenrider's presence and the lack of saves on a terrible team, I would rather speculate on a different MR in a 10-team league.
