First, this was a pretty tragic case in our community at the time. This young girl was literally in her house when the stray bullet killed, so there is a lot of emotion behind. I don't recall there being any real outcry at the time that this was an unjust conviction of Burrell. Putting a 15 year old away for life back in 2002 was not seen as a huge injustice, either. If there is new evidence, by all means, let's see it and, if there is cause, lets open an appeal and retry the case.

As for attending the funeral, I'm about the most merciful person around, but if you're a convicted murderer, one of the punishments is not being able to attend these family events. Tyesha Edwards, the young gal he's been convicted of murdering, is going to get to go to her mom's funeral. Heck, she didn't even get the joy of having a Sweet Sixteen party.

As for defending Klobuchar, I'll take a look at the entire body of her work, and say I think she's doing a great job. Every one of these candidates has something marring their complete public life. You decide what you're willing to overlook.

Let's talk about Bernie, you know the commoner, Socialist-Democrat, who has an estimate worth of $2,500,000.

    Forbes tells us:

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/chasewi.../#7d3ba14c36bf

Sanders is going to get "around $73,000 a year" for the rest of his life from his government job. I've never lived on that kind of money in my life, and I cannot see how he can connect with me.

This is the gem from the article (my bold).

He just couldn't quite see in himself to think he at $2.5 million thinks he has enough. HYPO-FUCKING-CRIT! So TW, how do you support someone who decides that his cut off point for taxing the rich is just above his pay grade?
Arguing that Sanders is a hypocrite because he amassed his wealth working in a well paid government job for decades is ludicrous. Claiming he set the line of taxation below his own personal wealth specifically for his own benefit is also ludicrous. He isn't in it for himself, his campaign message is literally "Not me. Us."

Your silly attempts to smear Sanders after previously whining about a need for Sanders supporters to "promise to unite behind the winner"? Now that's called hypocrisy, my friend.
Larry David was once being heckled, long before any success. Heckler says "I'm taking my dog over to fuck your mother, weekly." Larry responds "I hate to tell you this, but your dog isn't liking it."

When I have I ever whined about "promising to unite behind a winner"? I cannot think of any time I would have every said that, especially when I am a tried and true third party voter for many of the previous elections?

A campaign message is just a slogan, "Make America Great Again". You can look at that two ways: One, when was it ever great? Two, when was it never great?

"Not me, Us." As in we're all better together, or another view "I just a schmuck like you mad at the ultra-rich, you know those who have $3 million. Slogans are just words. I'll go with the optics and say that Bernie's threshold for what "rich" just doesn't cut the mustard when it is literally just out of his reach.

Oh and Sanders have been a civil servant for over 30 years, married for about the same time so a dual income of about 100K a year for 30 years is a reasonable way to have over 2.5 million in the bank. I've several friends who worked regular jobs who have wealth at that level and they live normally.. Having a million in nest wealth is pretty easy with dual incomes over time.

Sanders and everyone else has ALWAY mentioned the top 1% as a target for taxing.

Do you really think it's in sanders character to pick a number that benefits HIM? If so, please share some previos examples of Sanders acting this way and/or being hypocritical.

Bernie is in the Top 5% in Net Worth for Americans, a far cry closer to the 1% than your Average Joe. Let's just say I'm not crying for Bernie when it comes to money. Heck, I'm not crying for any of the candidates when it come to money. I just think the optics don't look good.

Most of his wealth has been accumulated in the last 5 years. The article you linked to even pointed out that there is a good chance he will be subject to the estate tax. You'd have to be really naive to think he set the limit based on his own finances.

Sorry, but this is bizarre to me. Are you really saying that the only candidate you'd trust to honestly care about and promote the interest of the Average Joe is another Average Joe, regardless of the candidate's actual platform and policy/voting record? If that's the case, than I guess no presidential candidate will ever be "allowed" to run on a platform of helping the poor or helping the working class because the "rigged system" Bernie Sanders has been describing already makes it essentially impossible for a poor or working class person to mount a viable candidacy for the presidency. This just makes no sense. Sanders has a long career of public/on-the-record policy positions and votes and bills and all that. Why would we cite his personal net worth as somehow negating that record?

              • I fully understand that Bernie hasn't been living high of the hog his entire life.

When I say the optics look bad, it's the average person that isn't going to do any research other than the political ad that Trump or a PAC puts out against Bernie with this this simple information. People are lazy, and if the sound bite hits me right that's all the confirmation someone needs.

Yes, but you called him a hypocrite for setting the threshold based on his own finances. I'll assume you were just trolling at this point.

                  • I don't think I'd call Bernie a hypocrite, but I would assume that he, like almost everyone else, sees "the rich" as those who have somewhat more than he does. Very few people think of themselves as "rich", no matter how much they have.

I don't think it's crazy to think that influences his policy choices, even if it's not a conscious choice on his part.

I don't really disagree. I was responding to ITC who implied he set the estate tax just above his level of wealth when it is actually very likely that he will exceed the amount and be subject to the tax. So if he is basing his policy choice on his own circumstances then if anything he is putting his own wealth at risk.

Enough is enough. In light of the problems that have emerged in the implementation of the delegate selection plan and in order to assure public confidence in the results, I am calling on the Iowa Democratic Party to immediately begin a recanvass.

Doesn’t someone have to take the fall for this debacle? I am not plugged in well enough to know where most of the blame lies, but it would seem that either Perez or the head of the IDP has go to go at this point. Am I wrong?

When Sanders wins, all the heads will roll. That's why they're so blatantly rigging it.

                            • The result (a clear win in popular vote and more or less a tie in delegate count) was great for Sanders regardless. He clearly topped Warren and seems certain to top her in NH, NV and SC as well. Biden finished fourth (and closer to fifth than to third). And while Buttigieg will presumably get a bump off of the strong showing in Iowa, his inability to appeal to Black voters dooms him over the longer haul. All it does is delay a rally around either Biden or Bloomberg by those who don't want Sanders to be the nominee. So Sanders fans should hope Buttigieg stays viable through Super Tuesday.

                              • Tom Perez is stepping on the scales with the weight of a silver back gorilla. If anybody thinks the entire establishment isn't aligned behind stopping Bernie right now, they're blind. The word of the day is rigged.

So they had the big CNN reveal of the DMR poll spiked, which showed Bernie leading due to a completely idiotic excuse that 1 individual didn't get Buttigieg as an option. So they're soooooo concerned about quality control that they spiked the poll.... yet they didn't have the foresight to pre-test the app before caucus day?

They're so concerned with quality control that they put out wildly different numbers than the real reported numbers from precinct captains, one precinct had given massive slices of Sanders vote total, split between Duval Patrick and Steyer. Several districts showing more people voting in the 2nd rd than the 1st rd, which is an impossibility in a fair caucus process.

They keep releasing dribs and drabs of the vote total that show Sanders losing, despite being riddled with what NBC called dozens of clear errors. This is the quality control, taking days to release, riddled with dozens of errors, almost uniformly hurting Sanders vote total to keep him just a hair behind Buttigieg. You think the fact the vast majority of these errors favor Buttigieg and hurt Sanders is a coincidence?

The final straw, when Sanders declared victory yesterday, as he has a 6K vote lead on 1st ballot, 2.5K vote lead after realignment, CNN needed to screw him with narrative again. While NBC and the AP reported that the DNC 99.9% results were too faulty to believe. Reporting is that Buttigieg's campaign complained to the DNC when Sanders started dominating the satellite caucus sites, and that's what Tom Perez was freaked out about in his "enough is enough" statement...

Not only this, but CNN had an 8 pm Sanders Town Hall, 9 pm Buttigieg Town Hall. Guess when they released the latest horribly flawed results? 9 pm! "Hey Mayor Cheat, how does it feel that the DNC confirmed you won Iowa just before you stepped on the stage?"

Isn't it great the DNC are willing to destroy voters faith in democracy to stop Sanders? I told you they care more about stopping Sanders than beating Trump. How much lower will the DNC go in debasing themselves so publicly?

Sanders' campaign responded with details that show about 30 vote equivalent errors that would be enough to move him ahead on the final count comfortably.

C'mon B-Fly, I know you're a DNC cheerleader, but even you have to see past your pom-poms that this is blatant scale tipping, right?
