  • What player has the most XBH this season?
    Aaron Judge? Nope.
    Yordan Alvarez? Wrong again.
    Kyle Schwarber? Not even close.

It's...Austin Riley! He has 62 XBH, 2 more than Judge. He has 29 HR, only 4 less than the 33 he had last year, w more than 1/3 of the season left to play. He's on pace to have 6.9 fWAR which would shatter the 4.7 fWAR he had last year in which he was #7 in MVP voting. He's proving not only that last year wasnt a fluke, he's just getting started.

Also stole his 1st MLB base. Intriguing. Albies is back in Sept. Grissom may be worth a flyer - at least for August.

          • The Braves lock up another budding superstar, agreeing to an 8-yr deal with Michael Harris.

            • Is it just me, or is the Harris deal another incredibly team-friendly deal? There must be a way for players to remove injury risk without giving up huge payday, even for a guy who is light years from free agency.

My first reaction was that it was very low yes.

                  Mike Trout through 2030

                  or

                  Austin Riley through 2033
                  Michael Harris through 2032
                  Ronald Acuna through 2028,
                  Ozzie Albies through 2027

If the Braves are gonna keep uncovering talent and getting them to play for a decade for minimum wage, and the Mets are gonna spend like Elon Musk...man it is gonna be rough on Marlins fans. What else is new?

I think you'd want the Braves group in both cases, no?

Better question is, why don't small market teams adopt this strategy of signing their young, homegrown stars to long-term deals, so they don't flee at first opportunity?

... and just when it looks like you have a chance, trade away a couple of your best players for mediocre prospects?
