yea, RHP will have nightmares facing that crew.

If that young pitching can stay health, lights out.

Someone once observed that baseball is played on the left. The Rangers think so.

      Their rotation seems to be
      Darvish
      Holland
      Harrison
      Ogando
      Perez

That does not scare me nearly as much, but also three LHP and one of the RHP is coming off a major injury.

True. Colby Lewis is also worth mention in such conversations.

In any event, i would not call it a settled order. What is Matt Garza's current situation?

Last I heard, at least one team did not like what they saw on Garza's medicals

Looks like the Choo signing will force Nelson Cruz to find a new team in 2014.

The Angels will sign him. They sign everyone that has given their best years to the Rangers.

With the Choo signing, is Texas' free agent budget gone? Can they make a serious bid for Tanaka?

It's hard to say what the real budget is for the Rangers, as they're one of the teams with a good TV deal.
But they're really set at starting pitcher, for years. So it would only make sense if they're going to move one of Holland/Perez/Ogando for a young OF and/or prospects. That's pretty involved for a team that already made their big splash with Fielder and Choo. I could see them getting involved to make sure nobody steals Tanaka for a reasonable amount, but that's not looking likely at this point.

How do you figure that. Looking at the roster, I would be in the market for a SP2, SP3. Harrison/Ogando/Perez may or may not be three spots in the rotation. All have serious questions. If not they will need to promote or acquire someone. Holland is OK as SP2, but SP3 is more his level.

Which is why Tanaka will sign with the Dodgers.

Did anyone notice that the Rangers gave Choo jersey #17, which besides being his number with the Reds was also that of Nelson Cruz with the Rangers? If there was any previous expectation of Cruz being re-signed, that would end it.

                                mlbdepthcharts puts the lineup thus:

                                1 LF 17 Shin-Soo Choo FA L 31
                                2 SS 1 Elvis Andrus R 25
                                3 1B 84 Prince Fielder T L 29
                                4 3B 29 Adrian Beltre R 34
                                5 RF 51 Alex Rios R 32
                                6 DH 18 Mitch Moreland L 28
                                7 C 8 Geovany Soto R 31
                                8 2B 13 Jurickson Profar S 20
                                9 CF 2 Leonys Martin L 25

                                Projected Bench

                                B C J.P. Arencibia FA R 28
                                B IF 9 Adam Rosales R 30
                                B OF 43 Engel Beltre L 24
                                B OF 15 Michael Choice T #2-OAK R 24

I wonder about Rosales. Choice can play all the IF positions and is also a right hand bat. Unless they plan to play him exclusively in the OF, he looks like the super sub.

Would you rather have Choo or Rios? Rios is at least a round higher in ADP, but Choo is my pick.

This is the real reason for the post.

                                1 SP 11 Yu Darvish R 27
                                2 SP 54 Matt Harrison L 28 Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery (9/9/2013)
                                3 SP 41 Alexi Ogando R 30
                                4 SP 33 Martin Perez L 22
                                5 SP __ Colby Lewis R 34 Hip surgery (8/24/13)

Harrison and Lewis are both off surgery. Ogando is chronically hurt. Is this at all realistic? Darvish is the SP1. Then what? Is Perez the de facto SP2? Are they going to build the rotation in camp? Where do Ross and the career AAA SP figure?
