aim like Maddux, power like Clemens.

    resistance is futile.
He's amazing, but if he gets career stats like Maddux or Clemens, that's a miracle given his age and current career stats.

    • he's also 6 for 11 as a batter this year, with an RBI and 2 R tonight.
.199 career AVG with 3 HR.

also made a nice fielding play for the last out - befitting a former SS prospect.

and he killed in the postgame interview.

very disarming smile, even when told that his catcher McCann said he believes deGrom doesn't only want to beat you - but to crush your spirit.

he passed on that one but he didn't deny it.

Mets announcers tonight mentioned that the pitching coach said he has an "elite curveball" as well that he doesn't use so much.

so if this fastball ever loses steam - he hit 99 mph in the 9th inning - he already has his "post-FB dominator" plan worked out.

      • He doesn't have a "post-FB dominator" phase worked out--he hasn't been successful without it. But that doesn't matter. Randy Johnson was another late bloomer, and he did just fine without that phase. He's amazing.

        • He has more RBIs at the plate than earned runs allowed. I love that stat.

          • Noah Syndergaard faced live hitters on Saturday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last March. Syndergaard reportedly threw his full repertoire and hit 97 mph with his fastball during a one-inning stint in an intrasquad scrimmage.

Jacob deGrom won’t make his scheduled start tonight, per source. Unclear whether this is an issue that’s likely to linger. Mets will be addressing it later.

Jacob deGrom’s injury, deemed by one source as right-side tightness, isn’t believed to be serious. Another source said the expectation is deGrom will miss only one start. Still, anything having to do with deGrom’s health is taken extraordinarily seriously — and understandably so.

                  • best available Johneswy?

btw note the SB number - and see if Khalil Lee gets called up, too. either might prove to be a "steal" if the cards play out right

05.17... The Mets will call up outfielder Johneshwy Fargas from Triple-A Syracuse, according to Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News.
Spin: It's one of the moves for the Mets with Michael Conforto and Jeff McNeil going on the injured list with hamstring injuries. Fargas, 26, is hitting .242/.324/.394 with one homer and eight steals over eight games in Triple-A this year. He's capable of playing all three outfield positions, giving the Mets some valuable coverage with multiple injuries in their outfield.

                    UPDATE

05.17... The Mets are expected to call up OF Khalil Lee from Triple-A Syracuse, per Tim Healey of Newsday.
Spin: We already knew that Johneshwy Fargas was being called up with Michael Conforto and Jeff McNeil landing on the injured list, so Lee is the other move. The 22-year-old was actually up with the club for a couple of days earlier this month, but didn't end up making an appearance. It should be different this time around. Acquired from the Royals during the offseason, Lee bring legitimate speed to the table as well as some pop and patience. He's worth a shot in deeper fantasy leagues.

                    • Figures that the two teams where I have Pillar are 1-NL only where he never comes out of the lineup and 2- A really stacked OF team in a 15-team league where I'm playing him over the incredible but maybe injured Chris Taylor. Pillar should get all the PT he can handle given all these injuries.
