Kris Bryant's grievance over his delayed callup in 2015 will be heard sometime this week, per David Kaplan of NBC Sports Chicago.

Bryant was first promoted to the major league level on April 17, 2015. Had he been promoted by the Cubs on April 16 or any day before then, he could have become a free agent after the 2020 season. As it stands now, he is scheduled for free agency after the 2021 campaign. It was very clearly an intentional delay tactic by Chicago's front office, and the ruling in this case could set a hugely-impactful precedent for top prospects and their early-career dealings with their respective MLB clubs.

The Cubs signed Chris Young as their new bullpen coach.
And I know what you are thinking - why did they sign a former outfielder to serve as their bullpen coach?

But no, I'm talking about the other Chris Young.
And I know what you are thinking - the 6'10 giant who pitched for 13 years for the Rangers, Padres, Mets, Mariners, and Royals?

But no, I'm talking about the other Chris Young.
And I know what you are thinking - they hired the country music singer as their bullpen coach?

But no, I'm talking about the other Chris Young.
Yup, that's right, the minor league reliever you had never heard of

Yeah, but he took the place of someone who has had the job for 13 years and 31 years with the Cubs. Good news not fired given new position.

Can't say I am going to miss Addison Russell.

He is still young only 25. I suspect someone will take a chance on him.

Kris Bryant has lost his service time grievance against the Cubs.

So, Bryant becomes a free agent after the 2021 season, rather than after 2020 which will increase his trade value.
