These kids heal fast nowadays. Torres returned Saturday after being out just 2 weeks.

Although he's not playing today. Keep your fingers crossed.

                  • Torres pinch-hit today in a big spot and swung at ball 4 and grounded out.

then they did not play him in the field - a sign that he's returning with baby steps.

meanwhile barring a late rally here, the 8th-seeded Yankees will lead 9 seed Orioles by only 2 games.

could.... no, they can't. can they?

                    • If the season ended today, the Yanks would barely squeak in the playoffs as the #8 seed.

                          • Tonite, Adam Ottavino entered in the 6th w 1 out w the bases loaded and the Yanks on top 6-3. He allows all 3 inherited runners to score to tie the game. He then allows 2 of his own runners to score, having allowed all 4 batters faced to reach. At this point, it was evident to everyone watching that he didnt have it tonite and should have been replaced - everyone except manager Aaron Boone. He was left to walk the next batter and then give up a GS to Danny Jansen to make it 12-6. The Jays scored 10 runs in the inning. Ottavino's line: 0 IP, 6 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, raising his ERA from 3.55 to 7.82 and his WHIP from 1.11 to 1.58. I'm not a Yanks fan, so why do I mention this? He's on my roto team, of course. Thank you Adam...and Aaron

                            • 3 inherited runners and then his own 6 runners score without an out - has that ever happened before?

Fernando Tatis Sr. used to be famous (not anymore) for hitting two grand slams in the same inning off the same pitcher.

but Ottavino and the napping Boone deserve some love for this offbeat category
