Nick Buoniconti, a HOF linebacker for the Miami Dolphins, longtime host of HBO's "Inside the NFL" and tireless fighter for his son Marc's "Miami Project to Cure Paralysis," died at age 78.

Keith Lincoln, a star RB for the San Diego Chargers in the 1960s, died at age 80. RIP.

Legendary Raiders WR Cliff Branch died at age 71. How is this guy not in the Hall? RIP.

Cedric Benson, the #4 overall pick by the Chicago Bears in the 2005 NFL Draft and a 3x 1,000+ yard rusher for the Cincinnati Bengals, was killed in a motorcycle crash last night in Texas at age 36. RIP.

Barry Bennett, a defensive lineman who had an 11-year career from 1978-1988 with the Saints and Jets, was murdered along with his wife by his son. Terrible. RIP.

Jim Langer, a Hall of Fame center for the Dolphins and Vikings and was a mainstay on the Dolphins’ Super Bowl teams, died at age 71.

Mike Thomas, a RB for the Redskins who was named the 1975 AP Rookie of the Year and who rushed for 1100 yards in 1976, died at age 66. RIP.

Sam Davis, starting left guard for the Pittsburgh Steelers four Super Bowl teams during the 1970's has died at the age of 75. RIP.

Former Steelers lineman Sam Davis was found dead Tuesday evening after he was reported missing from a personal care home in McKeesport.

McKeesport police confirmed late Tuesday that the body of Mr. Davis, 75, was discovered inside the New Life Personal Care Home on Versailles Avenue.

The four-time Super Bowl champion was last reported seen about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday leaving the New Care Personal Home at 2521 Versailles Ave., according to McKeesport police.

Police didn’t explain how he got back into the home. They said they did not find anything criminal or suspicious regarding Mr. Davis’ death.

Mr. Davis suffered from dementia and was legally blind. He was a guard for the Steelers from 1967 to 1979, and was listed as 6-1, 255 pounds during the 1978 season when the team won its third Super Bowl.

Bill Bidwill, owner of the Arizona Cardinals, whose family has owned the team since 1932 when they were originally the Chicago Cardinals, has died at the age of 88. RIP.

Wally Chambers, a 3-time Pro Bowl DT for the Chicago Bears and the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1973, died at age 68. RIP.




Ed Simonini, a middle linebacker who played from 1976-1982 primarily for the Baltimore Colts, died at age 65. RIP.

Hall of Famer Willie Brown, who played 16 years for the Raiders and is the subject of one of the more famous NFL Films clips, died at age 78.

Charles Rogers, the 2nd overall pick of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions who was a massive bust and lasted just two seasons, died from liver failure at age 38. RIP.

Jim LeClair, a linebacker for the Cincinnati Bengals from 1972-1983 and NJ Generals from 1984-1985, died at age 69. RIP.

I used to go to some NJ Generals USFL games at the Meadowlands. they had Doug Flutie and Herschel Walker, among others.

also a wacky owner, but I assume he's long since retired from public life by now. he'd have to be over 70 years old.
