*David Bowie Draft Thread*

I have been emailed by the Commissioner that I have the honor of the first pick.

I have to take into consideration that I have lived through all of Bowie. Some good some bad some shocking, some ground breaking. Some of his stuff plays better today then it did when he brought it out. A lot to choose from.

I admit back in the day I sort of boycotted Bowie to other great artists of the late 60's to mid 70's. The first time I heard this pick I could not deny the man's talent and became a fan.

1.01 - Rebel Rebel

1.02 Space Oddity

This was my first pick from the moment the draft was announced, I just wasn't sure I would get it. I had "Rebel Rebel" in reserve in case Gregg took my first choice.

I should mention here that what I'm picking the longer album version, such as appeared on "Essential David Bowie", and not the three minute single version.

I figured there's a "Big Four" of Bowie songs, and we're going to form so far; I wonder if the next comes through as expected.

Mick Ronson deserves credit for putting Bowie over the top here in America... his buzzsaw guitar gave Bowie the heavy crunch he needed to balance the whole fey act.

Well, snaked on Space Oddity and Sufragette City, and while I like a lot of his earlier stuff, I don't love it. So let's go with a 1980s classic:

Nice, my #1 made it to me. Can't really argue with any of the picks thus far, but this one is his masterpiece IMO. For some reason, I think this could make it back to me, but not worth taking any chances.

For whatever reason, my classic rock station growing up never played this song so it's still pretty new to me. I loooove that riff and the vocal melody is great as well.

Even in high school, when I thought Bowie had no substance, I loved this song. Such a great groove.
