The Yakult Swallows won the Japan "World" Series today, beating the Orix Buffaloes, 2-1 in 12 innings. Former MLBer Scott McGough got the victory in relief. These two teams' appearance in the series is noteworthy in that they both finished last in their respective leagues the last 2 seasons and both not only won their league's pennant but both survived the playoffs to appear in the final series. This has never been done before in Japan and I dont think it's ever been done in MLB either.
