  • "The Best Instrumental of the Rock Era" Tourney

So like the One Hit Wonder and Most Iconic Song of the 80s, how about an instrumental tourney?

    The rules are:
    - song must be 'considered' to be an instrumental, so songs with *some* lyrics in it are OK (i.e. "Gonna Fly Now" & "Theme from Shaft")
    - the "rock era" will be considered to be 1955 to the present, so we're not going to include all those composers from the 1700s
    - theme songs are ok
    - some instrumentals were connected to other songs - they will stand separately
    - votes will be in the Google thread which I will set up.

Feel free to post some songs, and we'll include them.

Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover

I'd put virtually anything by Rodrigo y Gabriela on there, but I'll just go with Tamacun. Love that song.

I was considering "Little Wing" but listening to it again, are there too many lyrical parts?

Can't believe I forgot "Rise," which was actually the reason why I thought of doing this, because I just heard it yesterday on XM.

SRV's Little Wing is 100% instrumental. And 100% awesome.

Good stuff. I was leaving The Call of Ktulu for Bene Futuis since I think he's a big Metallica fan.

And I didn't even dive into Bonamassa, Keaggy, Jorgenson (who just teamed with Bonamassa), Jeff Beck, or Di Meola.
