there was a game in the 1980s where the two squads - GB and WAS - come out guns-a-blazing on Monday Night Football.

one of the announcers, a Hall of Famer as a player, chimes in with: "First team to 50 wins!"

it's 48-47 GB til the final minute. then here's a FG try by one-time WAS MVP (!) Mark Moseley to make the prediction come true.

somehow the FG missed - and the HOFer announcer, well, he almost sort of wound up "playing for the Broncos."

and then likely starring in an off-Broadway production of "The Longest Yard."

I'm not a betting man but the line on the game supposedly was Cleveland -3.5 pts. I can imagine that there were many households where TVs, phones and various other things got broken after that safety to end the game.

it was Ravens -3.5 pts but yes.

a ton of money came in early in the week to bring it to Ravens only -1, but that lured enough Browns money in to make it -3 and, shortly before the game, to -3.5 points.

the Ravens scored a TD AND a 2-point conversion for a 45-42 lead in the final minute or so. many of their pickers needed the conversion to tie or win, but many were left out in the cold - until one of those inept "Stanford marching band" lateral plays went nowhere but backwards - all away out of the end zone as time expired.
