              I agree with this analysis. The original phrase irritates me. It's certainly not a helpful phrase for people going through a tragedy, as it only amplifies a feeling of helplessness.

              The way you phrase it emphasizes the human element controlling our fate rather than holding ourselves captive to a destiny that has our best interest at heart, even if the reality is shit right now. I like your way better.
