Astros toss over Roberto Osuna. I guess the Astros aren't so f__ing glad they have him anymore.

And Cleveland put Brad Hand on outright waivers. Cost cutting moves are getting serious, now.

Wong had a really good year and was basically their only lefty. Kind of shocking.

Defensively, he's great, and you're right, he was the only lefty until Carlson came up. But his power cratered this year - OBP was pretty solid, but SLG was awful. I suspect a lot of teams are going to be jettisoning talent in the $6 - 12 mil range who are good but not great contributors.

yep, I'm thinking this will not be a normal off-season ... if the stories re: financial pressures are to be believed there could a lot of teams giving rookies a chance next year (with their minimum wage salaries) in favour of those mid-tier guys
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

The year of the one year contracts might be upon us.

Long term giant FA offers will not make sense this off season. Too much uncertainty.

Rays decline Charlie Morton's $15 mil option and Zunino's $4.5 mil option.

Brewers decline Ben Gamel's $2.55 mil contract.

I just heard Klubot has had his $18 mil option declined.
