Yep. I realize they are brand new hence my suggestion.

I do have one question. Did you make sure to have the unit parallel to the ground when you spooled it? If not maybe try again. Either way I hope it works out for you. I hate birds nests!

I called the sporting goods store and they will do it free of charge.

Yep, I had it parallel with the label side up. But just after a few test casts, the line just never went onto the reel properly. I will have them remove the line and redo it, and do the 2nd rod from scratch.

Have I told you about otters being the only marine animal that can lift rocks?

Oh, I can see "2nd Rod from Scratch" working. I meant the whole sentence would not work as a band name - too long

There were a few possible band names there:

              Parallel
              Never Went
              Label Side Up
              The Test Casts
              Remove the Line
              2nd Rod from Scratch

Individually, yes....but all together would not be good.

The sporting goods store spooled both lines so it’s off to take my boys fishing tomorrow!

Great news. And if you catch fish even better.

For father's day I loaded up an Amazon cart full of fishing gear - new rod/reel (very basic nothing exciting), new lures, new hook remover and pliers, mesh vest - and just told her to go in and push buy. Going back to the coast next month for another week of night fishing.

Nice. I am a bit jealous.

I have not been fishing since last year.

Went to a nice state park recommended by the sporting goods store, but we didn't get a bite and left after about 2 hours. It's tough to fish from shore and catch anything.

Man, I would love to do that. Lots of great rivers around here. But that would have to be a solo sport since my kids are so young.
