All time high hard hit percentage. Lowest soft hit percentage since his Tigers days, highest line drive percentage since his Tigers days. I’d be careful attributing BABIP so much to luck when the underlying metrics support an increase.

THURSDAY: seeing if I can break AVG/ERA/RATIO ties

as of yesterday morning, HQ still had full-season stats and I was able to add H and BB to the team listings.

when I went to break the ties in the afternoon, the site had reworked all of the stats to a 100-game standings - two days before they said they would.

so after almost 5,500 clicks, looks like the thread ends not with a bang, but a whimper.

I mean, I guess I could go thru the numbers again with the new stats and.... but I dunno. it was a good run

much thanks to an HQ staffer for the files that allowed me to finish off the 162-game projection standings.

there were 7 ties to break with the more detailed figures, though I wasn't involved with any of them. owner who tied me for 2nd had one tie, which he lost - so I get 2nd to myself!

so the race based on 162-game projections went:

fun facts:

- the guy who 'won' by the skin of his teeth through a 23-player draft slipped to 6th (though just 7 points back) after we decided to add one more H and one more P each via Rounds 24 and 25. that's how close things are.

- the first '38' nailed both of his tiebreakers and then won the overall categories tiebreaker to climb from last to 11th. not as impressive, though, given that the other '38' missed the first 5 rounds but then we let him draft five players to not exactly catch up before we began Round 6.

- in other news, I'm going through the 100-game revises. more dynamic changes than you would think, because so many categories are so tight, for example, that just one guy maybe losing a little less ground in HR or SV or whatever has moved the needle.

at the risk of beating a dead horse even deader (though we have reached the 6,000-'read' milestone here), the next 4 days I'll post the revised standings after hitting category adjustments; that plus pitching counting numbers; all that plus ERA; and finally all that with Ratio, too, to finish it off.

I haven't gotten to the last two categories yet, but let's just say I can't tell who wins yet, which is nice!

one team was last heading into the 162-game stat tiebreakers, but is up a comical 9.5 points with those, the 100-game hitting adjustments, and these pitching adjustments so far. his thievery has mainly been from contenders, producing one helluva race with only Ratio and ERA to go!
