  • Should We Delay Drafts?

Ok so it sounds like baseball is delayed and they can't just give guys 4-8 weeks off and then ask them to come right back so probably another 2 weeks at least to ramp back up?

Should we be delaying our auctions? I know scheduling is terrible but we are now going to auction where we don't know when the season starts and we are likely going weeks without medical updates on guys. Then when they do come back we are going to see a new batch of people get hurt before real games start.

Just curious how people are leaning.

Part of me is lookimg forward to the distraction a draft would provide...but probably makes sense to delay

Also. People may be busy with much more important plans and actions. Those should clearly be prioritized over a draft

My NL league was going to draft Sunday and decided to postpone the draft date. The problem is we have not gone down this road before at least in my lifetime and what it will take to get back to a semblance of normalcy. We really don't know if it weeks or months.

I'm guessing that if the season is played at all, it will be at least Memorial Day before it's back. Honestly, you wouldn't want your season trashed because your star player came down with it in March, as selfish as that sounds.

It sucks, but what are you going to do? Having it now is kinda crazy.

I was actually going to start a thread regarding how we evaluate injured players now seeing as how we suddenly have extra time for them to heal before they play a game.

Our home league is moving forward with the draft as planned on Saturday...getting a date that works for everyone is worse than herding cats.

              Absolutely.

Hard to say, but it probably helps the value of those with injuries set to take them out until May or so. I'm thinking of guys like Paxton, Verlander, Conforto--those expected to return to full health 4-6 weeks into what the season was. Now, they are probably closer to full value, given they likely will not miss much time.

Agree. As a Yankee fan this should only be good for them as well to heal up and be closer to 100%

All my drafts will proceed as planned. It takes a ton of time and effort to schedule drafts around everyone's schedules. Teams will keep their pitchers on schedules so they are still ready to play when the season starts.

My in-person draft league is in the same situation for the same reason. I assume my online ones will be moved; they are in the evenings anyway.

My draft was scheduled for 3/22 but some folks want to delay it, so that's probably what will happen. It's in the NY metropolitan area, which is hypersensitive about all this.

It helps that this is the only league for most of us.

In my currently ongoing slow draft, Aaron Judge got picked in round 8 right after the announcement was made. This is going to make ongoing slow drafts interesting, that's for sure.
