Good to know. They are off Monday. Hoping to have Olson and Chapman back Tuesday.

The A's/Mariners series on Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday has been postponed.

They're planning on playing this weekend against the Padres.

          • After postponing Friday's game just minutes before the start time, Saturday’s game between the San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres has also been postponed after a member of the Giants organization tested positive for COVID-19.

            • MLB is finalizing their playoff bubble format:

"According to Passan's sources, here are those reported bubble locations:

NLDS: Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas and Minute Maid Park in Houston
ALDS: Petco Park in San Diego and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles
              NLCS: Globe Life Field
              ALCS: Petco Park
              World Series: Globe Life Field
As expected, the World Series will be held in the Rangers' new ballpark, and the bubbles are such that no team will play at home after the first round. In the best-of-three wild card round, the higher seed will host all games at its home ballpark. Passan's story also includes the tentative start dates for those latter-round series."

                • MLB really is going to have to scramble to get all 60 games in for every team w/o delaying the playoffs. I was thinking that instead of double headers, they could, if necessary, have some triple headers. I knew that they sometimes had these in the old Negro Leagues but I didnt recall there ever having been a triple header in MLB. It turns out there have been 3 of these in MLB history. 2 were in the 1800's. The last one was in 1920 between Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.

SPOILER ALERT: MLB made clear more than a month ago that entire 60-game seasons for all clubs was not necessary. in a pinch, winning percentage will determine playoff slots.

it's also not rare in the slightest for not all MLB clubs to play full schedules, and that has been true forever.

in the past decade, 2018 2016 2011 come to mind (though only a game or two short of 162 apiece. some years, more than that).

in 1972 - a strike year - the Tigers finished 86-70 and the Red Sox finished 85-70.

the Tigers won the AL East, and the Red Sox went home for the winter.

asked whether this was fair to his club, Red Sox manager/philosopher Eddie Kasko famously said, "If 'ifs and buts' were candy and nuts - we'd all have a Merry Christmas."

1981 is on an even weirder level.

I should have said instead that they'll have to scramble to get in 60 games for all teams that are still in playoff contention, which could be a lot of teams. Regardless of what they said, MLB has always had teams make up games if it could have a bearing on the playoffs, and I see no reason not to expect that they will do this this time.

it's as if 1972 never happened

also, once again, MLB made clear that they would NOT demand that teams in playoff contention reach 60 games played this year.

if one wants to object to that decision, I get it.

but that's what they decided. things have gone better than expected, so it's now possible that all contenders get to 60.

it's just not what they mandated.

                          • 1972 was a different situation where they split the season into 2 halves. ARguably, that year was even weirder than this one. Maybe they'll do as you say but I expect they'll do everything reasonably possible to get postponed games in if they could affect the playoffs.

Actually, it was in 1981 when they split the season into two halves. In 1972 the strike lasted just the first week and a half.

In 1972, the Red Sox lost the AL East by 1/2 a game to the Tigers because they did not make up games, leading to uneven game totals.
