  • I am just amazed the season made it. Looked dicey a couple of times there with the Marlins and Cards especially.

ETA: I probably jinxed baseball here, didn't I?

      • Baseball leagues around the world in 2020:

Taiwan: Season began on 4/12, about 4 weeks late. A regular schedule of 120 games will be played. Limited fan attendance was allowed starting on 5/8 and starting 6/5 attendance was not restricted, except for requiring an empty seat between each fan, masks were not required while seated and concessions were allowed. All-Star game was cancelled. Regular season will end on 10/28 and the championship series (between CTBC Brothers and Uni-President Lions) will begin on 10/31.
Korea: Season began on 5/5, about 5 1/2 weeks late. A regular schedule of 144 games will be played. All-Star game was cancelled, yet they still held fan All-Star ballot voting. Initially, no fans were allowed but in early July, stadiums allowed fans up to 10% capacity and starting in early August, up to 30% capacity was allowed. Regular season will end on 10/30 and the playoffs will begin on 11/1.
Japan: Season began on 6/19, about 3 months late. The schedule was shortened from 143 to 120 games. All-Star game was cancelled. Initially, no fans were allowed but on 7/10 a limited # of fans could attend games. The regular season is scheduled to end on 11/7 but postponed games will be made up during the following week, with the postseason to begin after that. One league (Pacific) will have a league championship series while in the other league (Central) the regular season winner will proceed directly to the final series.
MLB: Season began on 7/23, almost 4 months late. Schedule shortened from 162 to 60 games. No fans allowed at games. Some temporary rule changes were instituted, including expanded rosters, 7 inning games for doubleheaders and placing a runner on 2B to start all half innings of extra inning games. All-Star game was cancelled. Playoff teams expanded from 10 to 16 teams. A limited # of fans were allowed to attend the NLCS and the WS. Championship series completed: Dodgers are champs. MLB was the last league to start and the first one to finish.
        Mexican League: Season cancelled.
