  • @Revo, Fauci agrees with you

“There’s a way of doing that,” Fauci told Snapchat’s Peter Hamby on Wednesday in one interview of a week-long series. “Nobody comes to the stadium. Put them (athletes) in big hotels, wherever you want to play. Keep them very well surveilled ... and have them tested like every week and make sure they don’t wind up infecting each other or their family and just let them play the season out.”

Weekly testing sure is easier than daily.

        • If Trout is indicative of the majority of players, this thing won't get pulled off. He is saying that if the players basically have to live in a hotel and at the ballpark, with nothing to do besides baseball, that is not gonna fly. It would be interesting to see that in action and what affect it would have on player performance, but it sounds like a set up that keeps players relatively safe for COVID-19 won't be enough. These players are probably not gonna agree to be holed up for months at a time away from their homes.

Trout's comments: "There's a lot of red flags," Trout said on NBC Sports Network on Wednesday. "We want to get back as soon as we can, but obviously it's got to be realistic. It can't be sitting in our hotel rooms, just going from the field to the hotel room and not being able to do anything. I think that's pretty crazy."

Yeah, really don't see what the issue is here. 81 games are typically played on the road and players are in hotels. In an abbreviated season, that might now be closer to 100-120. Is he complaining he won't be able to go out to bars and restaurants? News flash -- they won't be open anyway.

He was too polite to bring up the Seitzer issue.
I'm just here for the baseball.

LOL. MLB will need to have PornHub do an exclusive sponsorship!

Kershaw has also spoken up to say the plan to isolate players from their families is untenable. I just don't know how this thing will fly without player buy in and it looks like many players will not leave their families for a whole season. I get it. On the one hand, my wife's father had to leave her and her mother for months at a time working on cruise ships for years. On the other hand, he had to, and these players are privileged enough not to have to do that. I don't blame them, at least not the ones with kids.

I agree, I don't think they isolate from families, whatever plan they come up with has to include their families as well.

Yes, I agree. But in some cases, like Trout and Zack Wheeler, where their wives are expecting, it adds another wrinkle.

Must ensure that they use Kleenex and not valuable toilet paper.

                          • While we're waiting for MLB to start again this year, you might find it encouraging to know that baseball is being played rt now elsewhere in the world. The Taiwan professional league (CPBL) started its season on April 14. They've played 6 games so far. The Korean professional league (KBO) is planning to start games in early May.

                            • The CPBL brawl was legendary. A friend who's a native Hakka speaker translated one of the headlines for me "Social distancing stops at the end of players fists"
