  • A little help . . . w/NL keepers

Looking for a little help determining whom to protect in my 10-team, NL-only, 5x5 draft (no $$). My league is expanding so we're only allowed to protect 9 players/

At this point, I'm planning to keep Bellinger, S. Marte, Suarez and Goldschmidt.

Need to pick five more from the following:

    **Nola
    **Bauer
    **A. Rosario
    Wheeler
    **Gallen
    Reynolds
    **Senzel
    Urias
    Hampson
    C. Martinez
    W. Smith
    W. Ramos

    ** Planned keeper

Depending on health of Suarez and Senzel, I might be able to switch out for two more.

Looking for some thoughts/advice from the Pen.

Others might not agree, but I'm keeping Wheeler over Bauer and Gallen. Bauer is my last choice of those 3.

Probably not Senzel. Don't trust him to ever be healthy. So I'd go Rosario, Bauer, Gallen, Nola.

A lot depends both on your needs and what the league values higher.

Bellinger, S. Marte, Suarez and Goldschmidt.

        **Nola******************************keep
        **Bauer
        **A. Rosario**************
        Wheeler*****************************keep
        **Gallen****************************keep
        Reynolds
        **Senzel
Urias******************************a lottery ticket with good odds of paying off
Hampson*****************************between him and Rosario for #5.
        C. Martinez
        W. Smith----------catcher or RP?
        W. Ramos
        Bearin' up!

I'd go, in order, Nola, Wheeler, ARosario, Bauer. My fifth would depend. If you're a two C league, I keep W. Ramos in a minute. I might even keep him as my fifth in a one C league. But I'd be more inclined to make the best on a high upside of Carlos Martinez, Zac Gallen or Hampson.
I'm just here for the baseball.

I think I disagree with everyone else. I would go with the ones you suggested except for substituting Urias for Gallen.

Coming down to deadline to declare nine keepers.

Here are my keepers, as of today: Bellinger, Marte, Suarez, Goldschmidt, Rosario, Reynolds, Nola, Bauer and Urias.

Here's who I would let go: Wheeler, Smith (ATL), Gallen, Senzel, Hampson and Ramos.

Last-minute thoughts, suggestions from the Pen?

I think that's right. I think Rosario, Urias and Reynolds are probably the lowest guys, but I don't know if I throw any of them back for the guys you're cutting. I might argue for Gallen or Wheeler over Urias.

There's probably an argument to be made for Senzel over Reynolds. I can see either side, but I don't think it's correct to discount Senzel entirely here - they are in the same tier. You'd need to evaluate whether you need the speed more or the average. Senzel obviously has the higher ceiling of the two, and health reports from ST are looking good.

I think you have to find room for Wheeler in that group.
