On the evening of super tuesday sanders campaign workers are celebrating the effort, because that's all one can do at the end of the day.

Which is the mantra, a person who's worked their ass off, should be able to enjoy life at the end of each day.

    It's not a difficult concept.
If I whisper my wicked marching orders into the ether with no regard to where or how they may bear fruit, I am blameless should a broken spirit carry those orders out upon the innocent, for it was not my hand that took the action merely my lips which let slip their darkest wish. ~Daniel Devereaux 2011

Heh, I was scrolling old threads and found this one, which seems like a lifetime ago, but has actually only been 2 months.

So Sanders has suspended his campaign, so there's no working for him and all the casinos have closed so there's no working for them (I did have a slate of out of town Poker Tournaments to work in April, but...well Covid-19.) There's no theatres auditioning or performing, so that's a no go and even my fallback if necessary Waiter gig is shut down. Being in Calif, we'll be the last state to get going and every one of my chosen professions will be among the last jobs to return to work and even then, it should be slow once they do. No Unemployment for me as I quit my job (I'd actually be making more than I was while working with the Fed Assistance added on top) and no completing my Counselling certificate because all training programs through CalJobs are suspended until further notice.

But bills are paid (for once I planned a bit ahead--yes 2 months is ahead) and being home with Pam has been great as she is finishing her semester through online classes. I'm starting a temp job, which will bring in enough money to pay the bills, but will mean I'm out and about daily as an essential worker--I'm not too worried as I'm a pretty healthy guy and though I'm almost 60 with a slight auto immune thing (Psoriasis) again, I'm careful--mask, gloves and sanitizer at all times and have never really been seriously i8ll, ever.

All of this has given me (and most of us I'd think) time to reflect on things.

I've decided I'm not returning to the Casino Industry. It's just too--Well just Too involved. Too many damaged people. Too much dog eat dog. Too much addiction. Too much desperation. These past 2 months of not dealing with all that on a daily basis has been enlightening. I hadn't realized how much it was affecting me, how much anxiety and just heaviness I was dealing with. This new gig is menial, but should cover expenses. It's also flexible so I can do other things should I choose to do so (like finish my counselling certification) Or maybe I'll get back into the Theatre. Who knows. All I can say is that making the choice to Leave my job for the Sanders Campaign has been a great thing for my life--Not so much financially cuz it has been tight, but mentally and emotionally--a real breath of fresh air.

Thanks for all the well wishes and encouragement in your earlier responses and though my timing was really bad, the outcome has been surprisingly--positive.

      Cheers.

GITH - If it's at all financially feasible, finish your counseling certificate. Given what you've seen with addiction and desperation, I'd expect you'd be very good.

Yeah, I kind of did have a knack for it and I do like the aspect of helping others. It will all depend on whether or not the Workforce covers the tuition as it's taught at UCSD on of the more costly schools in town. But all in all, I'm feeling good about the direction I'm headed as long as it's away from where I was.

That's good to hear and I wish you the best.
