How the heck do you use the chat function in fantrax?
Well it is ostensibly an OBP league (see above) and Bregman gets a ton of walks, plus now a ton of HBPs...

      Two questions:

      1. Do you think it's a sound strategy in this format?
Yes, it's a very good strategy for that, in fact heavy starting pitching is the only strategy I've ever seen work in a points league. In a points league, starters truly have significantly more "value" than they would in roto. So if you are behind in starting pitching, I cannot imagine you'd be competitive.

        Yelich - 80 BB and 20 SB

But when you figure in the 10 extra HR from trout it puts it over the top for him in this type of format. That's why I'd take him first in a best ball.
Last year, Trout hit 4 more HR than Acuna. Acuna stole 26 more bases than Trout.

At one point I was leaning towards Yelich at #1 overall, but pulled back because of concerns about the knee injury, and whether that would limit his SBs. And, with that concern, this article put it over the top regarding selecting Acuna: https://www.mlb.com/news/ronald-acun...t-50-50-season. Umjewman reminded me that we've seen the peak from Yelich and Trout...whereas Acuna has room for even more growth.

        • Vlad 24th overall...someone is quite a believer. That is 20+ pick earlier than his min pick in February NFBC Draft Champions... Care to justify?

Is this a 3B only league?

            • I like Strasburg a lot more than most of the SPs around him. Not sure I can quantify why.

Still in his prime, good team, high Ks, low whip, 22+ starts for the last 8 years
                What's not to like?

Why would I have to justify? This is the same guy who was anointed the best player of the next generation by most talent evaporators. The same guy who had a very good, not great, rookie season. But projections have him hitting close to .300 with a good OBP. You don't have to squint too hard to see a .300/35/100 season in there as soon as this year.

                    I don't trust talent evaporators.

                        • Unfortunately, it seems like the talent has evaporated from many of my roto teams, throughout the years...

                              • From past experience, I've found the Fantrax notification system rather flaky. Sometimes I'd get an email, sometimes not. I know others have complained about this too.
